About Us

The Vision

“To be a world class professional services firm recognized for its expertise, innovation, leadership and financial success brought to our clients”

The History of the Firm

The firm was founded on 4 March 1982 at Level 5, 84 Pitt Street, Sydney. Richard Bobb, then a young sole practitioner with great aspirations, drive, and ambition, took the bold step of establishing a full-time chartered accounting practice. Embracing the risks inherent in any new enterprise, he laid the foundations of a firm that has since grown steadily and continues to thrive today.

Over the years, Mr. Bobb contributed extensively to leading professional journals, including the Butterworths Loose Leaf Taxation Service, NSW Law Society Journal, CAANZ’s Charter, Taxation in Australia, and the Hong Kong Taxation Institute Bulletin. He was also a regular speaker at professional seminars in Hong Kong, presenting for the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, HK ICAA (Hong Kong Group), and the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong.

The firm’s growth has been marked by a strong tradition of developing its leadership from within. All partners, other than the founder, began as employees before being invited to partnership. Katherine Chow joined in 1985 and became a partner in 1987. Keo Chui and David Woo followed, joining in 1988 and 1991 respectively, and were each admitted to partnership shortly thereafter.

On 1 July 2005, Richard Bobb retired as a partner of Richard A. Bobb Chartered Accountants. He continued to provide services as a consultant until 31 December 2017. While his formal association with the firm concluded at that time, the practice proudly continues under the registered business name “Richard A. Bobb Chartered Accountants.”

Since its establishment, the firm’s professional expertise has expanded beyond traditional chartered accountancy to include specialist services such as:

  • Preparation of individual U.S. Federal and State income tax returns
  • Foreign and domestic tax dispute resolution
  • Litigation support

Today, the firm operates with three partners supported by a team of skilled professional and administrative staff. From its offices at:

Level 6 283 George Street Sydney NSW 2000

The firm provides a broad range of accounting and tax services and continues to enjoy the trust and loyalty of a long-standing and diverse clientele.
